Academic and Freelance Projects | 1998-2000
One of the most traditional and award-winning creative schools in the United States.
Today it's incorporated by Miami Ad School

The Portfolio Center was fundamental for my career. It was a true game changer, where I had the opportunity to study and interact with big, creative names in the US. As a consequence, my academic portfolio opened many doors — not only in America, but also in big agencies in Rio and São Paulo.
It was a trove of learning and experience I'll take with me my whole life.

TRILOGY
Covers and illustrations for a series of books by American author, Ursula Le Guin. The books tell the story of a wizard's apprentice during three stages of his life, involving mystery, fantasy and the eternal fight between good and evil. In the first book, the apprentice is in school and needs some support to survive, represented by the tree branch. In the second book, he's strong and flies around the world helping people. The third one sees him already old, needing to rest and reevaluate his life efforts in vain, from the top a cliff — here, the good is represented by the light color, which is dominated by evil, in dark-green.
STRATUS AIR
Development of the logotype and visual identity for an airline company based in Switzerland. The brand and identity refer to the stratosphere, plane speed and Swiss topography.
SILVER TOUCH BANK
Prototype and interface for a futuristic piece that would be used in banking transactions in a near future, when cash wouldn't exist anymore, and safety and customization would be a fundamental issue. Project done in 1999, in an age before Wi-fi and biometrics, and when cash money still set the rules.
SCULPTURED CALENDAR
Piece developed for an art gallery to promote the work of Japanese visual artist, Koki Miyazaki. The display itself and the typographic construction converse directly with the artist's "grid" system.
REDEYE PEPPER SAUCE
Logotype, packaging and illustration for a hot sauce produced by Red Eye, a famous blues bar in New Orleans. The illustration stroke and logo are associated with the strong mix of French and African culture in the region, such as the French Quarter, voodoo and cajun food.
LINEUP
Graphic project for LineUp magazine, which focuses on a non-traditional approach to beach culture in south California.
WAVE CASE
Packaging and digital catalog for a local surfwear brand, High Tide. The materials, shapes and graphics used refer directly to the surfing world.
AQUEUS HOUSE
Scale model for a house project in a design and architecture class. The house took conceptual inspiration from the Rio de Janeiro geography, and came with a book that translated into words and images my creative process and influences as Brazilian student in America.

JENNY HOLZER | TRUISMS _ cultural contest
Proposal to divulge the London exhibit of American author and artist, Jenny Holzer. In this project, titled Truisms, Jenny worked with a subtle approach, using impactful phrases about sexual diversity. The visual solution to reinforce and make people think about this theme was to illustrate it with images showing the opposite of what she was affirming, thereby resulting in a third (and even more provocative) meaning.
